Hello & Welcome to "Ohio Public Wildlife".Allow me to take a few moments to tell you what O.P.W. is all about and what we are trying to do.
"Ohio Public Wildlife"(O.P.W.)is exactly what it sounds like,(in the Sportsman sense),"Ohio's Public Wildlife Areas" and for the past 2.5 years they have been scrutinized,by me.It has been my contention that the "Public Wildlife Areas" & lands have had alot of abuse,too much unwanted or unneeded traffic and just an over all kick in the face.So after my 1st year back from Upstate NY in over 5 years,& hunting that fall season,I found alot of problems with old places I used to hunt every year(for years before I moved to Upstate NY),but it had seemed since my almost 5+ yr. absence some of these properties went down hill.After the 2005 hunting season was over and I had no luck at my old hunting spots,& after I observed so much abuse by human actions.I decided that something had to be done! So I have been scouting,every "Ohio Public Wildlife Area" I could in 2.5+ years.
I have taken a few hits on the chin,so to speak with my views & opinions over the last couple years,& I must say,it was worth it! Some were under the impression that I didn't hunt hard enough,or scout enough,or even wear the right clothes to ask permission on private lands etc.Not to offend anyone,but that is all hog wash! I don't care what song & dance you perform,or what kind of clothes you wear,or type of vechicle your drive,if a farmer or landowner doesn't want you on his property,he isn't going to allow you on it,..UNLESS,..and perhaps,..if you pay! And I mean pay big !! See folks hunting is all about the almighty buck,...No not that one,..the green one without antlers.See I asked permission on more private property then I care to even rethink about,& out of about 35 farmers,(who by the way are with the co-op program through the ODNR),only 1 gave me and my 12yr old son permission.We are very thankful for that one farmer,but then we see our fellow hunters out there still looking for places to hunt.It's sad,alot of money paid for tags,ammo,and firearms and clothes etc,..and for what,..a cold day and this past year a few cold "WET" days (2007),with nothing to show for it.
Now's the time to change all that,and I have put my hat into the ring,and I am dedicated to helping every sportsman in Ohio & Visiting sportsman find a place to hunt,fish and camp in "Ohio's Public Wildlife Areas".That includes,ODNR,AEP,Old Mead Properties(Scioto Land Properties Corp.),& some others Public accessable wildlife areas.
I have made this site to let you know what I want to do and why.On my Blog site you will find more detailed info about every "Ohio Public Wildlife Area" I visited,scouted and hunted or fished at.Also on the Blog site will be ratings for each area,plus maps,& real images of the properties.As I have offered on other sites,I offer here on my sites,But I do ask for at least a $5 donation for "Firearm Price Quotes", & detailed Maps".Everything else is "FREE".
REASON I ASK FOR A DONATION:See I pay for the resources to get price quotes on all firearms,which include muzzleloaders and air rifles (BB Guns) as well as the regular firearms.I also pay a small fee for my aerial & satelite maps program.
I am not asking to be a millionaire,just to help my fellow sportsmen,and find a way to cushion some of the cost by offering a service.So if you need a price quote I have donation buttons on all the sites and forums site.Need a detailed map of an area,same as with the firearm price quoting.(Terms & Conditions are posted on the forums)& on each site.
But also before I finish,remember this site has more to offer for "FREE" then it does for payment of any sort.
